Acts 4:23-31 AMP.
Step 1: Know and believe that you can be Anointed again and again:
It is obvious from the text that Peter, John and many of the other disciples were present for two of the recorded Anointings of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts. This means that they received the Holy Spirit twice. They were filled twice. They were Anointed twice. They received the Holy Spirit repeatedly. The first Anointing of the Holy Spirit was recorded in Acts chapter two and the second in Acts chapter four.
And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues), as the Spirit kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words] Acts 2:4 AMP.
And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they continued to speak the Word of God with freedom and boldness and courage Acts 4:31 AMP.
It is important to believe that you can be Anointed many times.
There are many gifts and Anointings available to Gods servants.
Somehow, there is a feeling that there are only five main gifts of ministry which work with nine subsidiary gifts.
Also, there is a feeling that there is one baptism of the Holy Spirit after which we have finished with the Holy Spirit.
These two thoughts are delusions which keep us from further Anointings and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
You can be Anointed many times and you must expect many gifts.
At different times and seasons of your life, God will give you the Anointings that you need.
There is not just one Anointing.
There are several measures of Anointing that you will have before it is all over.
Jesus had the Anointing without measure.
Step 2: Embrace persecution because it brings out the Anointing:
25Who by the mouth of our forefather David, Your servant and child, said through the Holy Spirit, Why did the heathen (Gentiles) become wanton and insolent and rage, and the people imagine and study and plan vain (fruitless) things [that will not succeed]? 26The kings of the earth took their stand in array [for attack] and the rulers were assembled and combined together against the Lord and against His Anointed (Christ, the Messiah) - Acts 4:25-26 AMP.
The disciples experienced persecution.
Persecution makes you either bitter or better.
It brings out the best in your or the worst in you.
Out of the thousands that experienced the wilderness, only Joshua and Caleb emerged with a good attitude.
Jesus was tempted in the wilderness for forty days and nights.
He came out shining and ready to flow in the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Lord does not tempt us but He does test us.
The Scripture teaches us that God leads us through the wilderness to see what is in our hearts.
And you shall [earnestly] remember all the way which the Lord your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and to prove you, to know what was in your [mind and] heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not - Deuteronomy 8:2 AMP.
Persecution will make you either bitter or better.
Let your troubles lead you to trust in the Lord and in His power and Anointing.
Step 3: Obey God in spite of the pressure you have from men:
But we [ourselves] cannot help telling what we have seen and heard Acts 4:20 AMP.
Become like Peter and John who would rather obey God than men.
But Peter and John replied to them, whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you and obey you rather than God, you must decide (judge) Acts 4:19 AMP.
This is a critical step towards the Anointing.
Obey God in spite of the pressure you have from men.
When you stop yielding to the pressure that comes from human beings you will discover the Anointing. Much of ministry involves going opposite to the way people want you to go.
You will have to decide who you want to please, either man or GOD?
Step 4: Do not be moved by threats, accusations and other forms of intimidation:
So when they had further threatened them, they let them go Acts 4:21 AMP.
If threats, accusations can move you from your calling, then you are not worthy of the Anointing.
As you serve the lord, there will be threats, constant accusations, and much intimidation.
It is all part of the package to be harassed by accusers!
Your motives will be challenged continually!
It takes strength to continue walking steadily towards your goal, in spite of insinuations, suspicions and annoying accusations and persecution.
Step 5: Have your own company to which you belong:
After they were permitted to go, [the apostles] returned to their own [company] Acts 4:23 AMP.
When the apostles were let go they went to their own company.
You have to belong Hebrews 10:25 Amp.
It is important to have your own company who believe in you and who can accommodate you as you really are.
Your own company is the group or fellowship to which you belong. Your Household of Faith.
They are your brothers and sisters in the Lord, your Spiritual family.
They are your colleagues in the ministry.
They are your friends with whom you will live and die.
You will be buried together with your own company and rise with them in the resurrection.
Seven advantages of having your own company:
1. You own company will believe in you when no one else does.
2. Your own company will help you when no one else will.
3. Your own company will accommodate your weaknesses when no one else will.
4. Your own company will like you as you are.
5. Your own company will welcome you when no other group is happy to see you.
6. Your own company will cover up for you when you fall into their hands
7. Your own company will lift you up when you make a mistake.
Step 6: Pray specifically for power, miracles, signs and wonders:
24And when they heard it, lifted their voices together with one united mind to God and said,
30While You stretch out Your hand to cure and to perform signs and wonders through the authority and by the power of the name of Your holy Child and Servant Jesus. 31And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken Acts 4:24, 30-31 AMP.
What a powerful prayer!
Someone said he prayed for twenty-five years to receive visions and dreams.
After twenty-five years, he began to have some of the most amazing visions, which have blessed many people.
Do not minimize the importance of your powerful prayers.
Pray for the Anointing. Pray for the miracles. Pray for healing.
They will be yours in the name of Jesus.
Step 7: United prayer:
lifted their voices together with one united mind to God Acts 4:24 AMP.
We are truly blessed when we wait on God.
However, great power is released when you pray together with others who have the same mind and heart. Jesus had two kinds of prayer times. At times, He prayed all alon, and at times He prayed with His disciples.
Praying with others:
When you pray together with brothers and friends who have the same attitude towards ministry you accomplish much in the Spirit. This is the kind of prayer that the prophets and teachers practiced in the thirteenth chapter of Acts. It is this group prayer which led to the apostolic ministry of Paul and Barnabas.
Now in the church (assembly) at Antioch there were prophets (inspired interpreters of the will and purposes of God) and teachers: Barnabas, Symeon who was called Niger (Black), Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, separate for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them. Then after fasting and praying, they put their hands on them and sent them away - Acts 13:1-3 AMP.
Another way is to spend long hours alone with God.
This is what happened when Moses went up into the mountain all alone to wait on the Lord.
And the Lord said the Moses, come up to Me into the mountain and be there, and I will give you tables of stone, with the law and the commandments which I have written that you may teach them - Exodus 24:12 AMP.
