Scriptures to Pray Over Your Children

Proverbs 18:21 says, The tongue has the power of life and death. As parents, you have the power to speak life or death to your children and over your children. When you choose to speak the Word of God over your children, you are choosing to speak life over them. Jesus said in John 6:63, The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. The following are scriptural confessions that you can speak over your children – and as Isaiah 55:11 says – these words will not return to your empty, but will accomplish and achieve the purpose for which they are sent.

Exodus 20:12 I thank You Father, that my children honor and obey me, therefore, they please the Lord and will live a long life.
(Also found in Colossians 3:20 and Ephesians 6:2.)

More Prayers

Lord, give our children the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, and the knowledge of You. That the eyes of their hearts be enlightened that they will know the hope to which you have called them, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints and His Incomparably great power for us who believe.

These children are rooted and established in love; we pray that they may have power with all the saints to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ towards them, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge, that they may be filled to the measure of the fullness of God.

Our children will be imitators of God and live a life of love. They will submit to others out of reverence to Christ.

Our children will obey their parents in the Lord. They will honor their father and mother so that it may go well with them and that they may enjoy long life on earth.

No one will look down on our children because they are young, but they set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in faith and in purity.

Thank you Lord that our children won't forget His benefits. You forgive all their sins and heal all their diseases. You redeem their lives form the pit, and crown them with love and compassion. You satisfy their souls with good things so that their youth is renewed like the eagles.

Our children do not walk in the counsel of the ungodly or stand in the path of sinners or sit in the seat of scoffers. But their delight is in the law of the Lord and on His law they meditate day and night. They are like the trees planted by the rivers of water, which yield their fruit in season and whose leaf will not whither, and whatever they do prospers.

Our children seek You with all their hearts; they will not stray from Your commands; they have hidden Your word in their hearts that they may not sin against you. Psalm 91:9-16

Acts 1:8, 2:38

Joel 2:28

Prayer to Release Our Children

<span style="" font-size:="" 12.0pt;="" line-height:="" 115%;="" font-family:="" "arial","sans-serif""="">Father, we release (name of child)___ to you. We come against all the forces of the enemy that have kept our children on the sidelines.  I speak in the name of Jesus that these children will rise up mighty, powerful and anointed, that they will be leaders of men and followers of You.  We come against religion and tradition and those that say children are not important.  We release them into their destiny and all that You have for them. We give our children to You and we say do what You want to do in them, we set them free, we will not hold them back, but we speak blessing over them in the mighty name of Jesus.

More Prayers

Father, Your Word is true and I believe it. Therefore, in the Name of Jesus, I believe in my heart and say with my mouth that the Word of God prevails over my children. Your Word says that You will pour out Your Spirit upon my offspring and Your blessing upon my descendants. I believe and say that my children are wise and that they take heed to and are the fruit of godly instruction and correction. I love my children and I will diligently discipline them early. Because of that, they give me delight and rest.

Father, I take Your Word that says You will contend with him who contends with me, and You give safety to my children and ease them day by day. They are blessed when they come in and when they go out. I confess that You, Lord, give Your angels special charge over my children to accompany and defend and preserve them. I believe they find favor, good understanding and high esteem in Your sight, Lord, and in the sight of man.

I confess that my children are disciples taught of the Lord and obedient to Your will. Great is their peace and undisturbed composure. I believe I receive wisdom and counsel in bringing up my children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. And Your Word declares that when they are old they will not depart from it. So I commit them to Your keeping and I know and have confident trust that they are watched over and blessed of the Lord all the days of their lives, in Jesus Name, Amen.
