MAN IS A SPIRIT, HAS A SOUL, AND LIVES IN A BODY!!!

1Thes. 5:23; Heb. 4:12; Gen. 2:7; James 1:21

1) YOU ARE A SPIRIT!

1 Thes.5:23 (AMP.) - ?And may the God of Peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your SPIRIT and SOUL and BODY be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).

Man is a spirit who possesses a soul and lives in a body. 

Gen.2:7 ? Adam was created in the ?image? and ?likeness? of God ? a ?spirit? being.

Gen.1:26,27 ? What God actually said here was: Let us ?duplicate? ourselves.

Let Us (Hebrew: ?Elohim? ? Father, Son & Holy Spirit?make people in Our ?form?.

Your spirit is a ?duplicate? of God and the bible says ?God is Spirit? ? John 4:23,24. He created ?after His own kind??you are God?s ?Offspring?? (Acts 17:28,29)

Before the fall, man?s ?spirit? ruled him.

After the fall, man?s spirit became subject to his ?senses?

Eph.2:1-5 ? This is the ?re-birth? of the spirit.

Through the miracle of salvation you have received God?s ?Nature? in your spirit.

(2 Pet.1:4/Ezek.36:26,27/2 Cor.5:17.)

Man?s spirit is the part of him that ?KNOWS? God.

The spirit is GOD conscious.

This new-birth is a rebirth of the ?spirit? of man.

God made man to ?fellowship? with Him. God made man for His own pleasure. (Rev.4:11) 

The spirit is the dimension of man that deals with the ?spiritual? realm.

How wonderful it is then when the ?Born-again? spirit (John.3), just like Adam before the fall of man, can walk with God in the sweet companionship of the Holy Spirit.

The inward man (spirit) is renewed day by day. (2Cor.4:16)

Luk4:4 ? the spirit is fed and nourished with the Word of God.

2) YOU HAVE A SOUL  - Rom.12:1,2/Eph.4:22-24

The soul consists of three main parts, namely:

a) Intellect(thoughts) ? it is the part of man that reasons and thinks. It deals with the ?mental? realm. With the soul we contact the intellectual realm. (Prov.2:10, 11)

b) Emotions? Ps.42:6 (Message)

c) Will? Rev.22:17

One of the greatest needs in the Church today is that God?s people ?Renew? their minds with the Word of God.

The mind becomes ?Renewed? with the Word of God.

God has given us His Word, and we can feed upon that Word.

The soul is SELF conscious.

The mind has been governed by ?sense? knowledge; it is a ?world-ruled? mind. (Rom.8:5-11)

The mind cannot grasp spiritual things. (1Cor.2:14)

Therefore the ?spirit? must gain mastery over the senses, in order to bring it into captivity. (Gal.5:16-18)

Then the mind will become ?Renewed.?

The born again spirit will feed the mind ?Revelation knowledge?. (Col.3:10)

In order to Renew your mind you must live, practice, walk, and allow the Word to become part of you. (Josh.1:8)

Prov. 23:7  - ?as a man THINKETH is he??

There is a continual interaction between spirit and soul.

All praise, worship or whatever form of prayer, is an interaction between soul and spirit. E.g: When I speak in a strange tongue, my spirit comes to the foreground, while my emotions spring forth from my soul.

When I pray in my own language my soul comes to the foreground while my worship rises up out of the born again spirit?

Sprituality is the born again (re-created) spirit gaining the ascendancy over the reasoning faculties (soul) and thus ruling the whole man?spirit, soul and body.

Renewing your mind comes as a result of:

Giving the WORD first place, meditating on the word & DOING the word (John.3:21)

3) ?AND LIVE IN A BODY ? Rom.12:1

Man?s spirit is the ?inward? man, that part of him that KNOWS God.

The body is the ?outward? man, the ?physical?.

The body is a tent, a temple a house and should only obey instructions.

The body is WORLD conscious.

The only ?legal right? man has on this earth is through his body.

If a person is separated from his body, he either goes to heaven or to hell, depending on his relationship with God and he ?forfeits? all his rights here on earth.

The body possesses the five senses which are the teachers and educators of the brain. The brain is dependent upon the five senses.

Rom.12:1 ? Paul is not writing to sinners here. He was writing to the saints at Rome, for he said, ?I beseech you therefore, brethren.? He said for us to do something with our bodies ? to ?present your bodies a living sacrifice? It is up to us. If we don?t do anything with our bodies, nothing will be done with them.

2Cor.5:17 ? But, You may say, isn?t the flesh the old self?

Your flesh is the same body, the same flesh it was before you were born again, but it?s your inner man (spirit), that has become a new man.

The body is not new; however, at the 2^nd coming of Christ we will have a ?new? body.

Right now God expects us to do something with our bodies, to ?present them a living sacrifice.?

He expects us to have control over our bodies and not to allow them to dominate us. He does not want us to be ?carnal? Christians, or ?body-ruled? Christians.

He expects us to obey 1Cor.9:27.

The inward man (spirit) is to rule the body.

THE REAL YOU (SPIRIT-MAN) ARE DESTINED BY GOD REIGN IN THIS LIFE!!!
